Kinoton an Official Partner of the 2013 Berlinale

D-Cinema Projection Solutions from Kinoton in 24 Auditoriums of the Festival

Kinoton is supporting the 63th Berlin International Film Festival, also called the Berlinale, as one of its official partners for equipping participating theatres. Together with Barco, Kinoton is making available high-quality D-Cinema projection solutions at 24 locations and backing them up with full service. Comprehensive support from Kinoton and Barco will ensure a flawless digital movie experience in venues including the Berlinale Palace, the Friedrichstadt Palace, the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, the CinemaxX, and the Martin Gropius Building.

Kinoton’s service technicians are professionally installing 2K and 4K digital cinema solutions that have been specially assembled for the Berlinale. The systems are being sensitively adapted to conditions in each auditorium and configured to meet the festival’s special requirements and comply with the DCI guidelines. For example, a high-brightness 4K dual projection system is being installed in the Berlinale Palace to ensure brilliant 3D cinema in XXL format. Barco is also installing its new D-Cinema Projector DP2K10-Sx, which was specially designed for smaller screens and forms part of the "Barco Projector Solutions“.

Kinoton’s sales director, Harald Bergbauer, is pleased that the 2013 Berlin International Film Festival, like in 2012, is once again relying on digital projection technology and support from Kinoton. “The quality expectations and technical requirements of the Berlinale are enormous, and the scope and complexity of the challenge have increased even further since last year,” he says. “Never before have so many screening venues been equipped with D-Cinema technology. This demonstrates beyond a doubt that the entire value chain is being increasingly digitized and that the trend is unstoppable. The festival’s organizers are adamant in insisting on first-class picture and sound quality, and of course also on dependable 24-hour technical support. The fact that they have once again chosen to partner with Kinoton is genuine proof of the confidence they place in us. For our part, we are very impressed by how competently the Berlinale and its partners have planned everything and by the professional, agreeable collaboration.”

The Berlin International Film Festival is one of the foremost events of the international film industry.
